ARTYOU INSTALLATION – Simon Berger: Transformation

8 December 2022 - 1 April 2023
Overview

Glass artist Simon Berger stages the exhibition space entirely based on his own imaginations and, for the first time, creates new spatial installations out of his ongoing experiments, in which the visitors integrate themselves and interact with the materiality of glass. For example, walkable glass plates have been installed; the visitor’s own weight will activate the installation as a whole, through cracking the glass floor. In addition, mirror shards and light incidence will create images on the walls, in the spirit of his investigation with reflection and transparency.

The installation will be accompanied by supporting room acoustics/lighting concept and will be in a constant state of flux throughout the duration of the exhibition. Through the artist's continued interventions in the installation, new works, sculptures and spatial experiences will continually emerge.
During the exhibition period, individual public and exclusive events on the subject of "glass" will take place within the installation in combination with culinary and performance happenings. These complementary events will be communicated separately.

“Human faces have always fascinated me. On safety glass, these motifs come into their own and magically attract visitors. It is a discovery from abstract fogging to figurative perception.”
Simon Berger was born on April 9, 1976, grew up in Herzogenbuchsee (Switzerland). Lives and works now in his own studio in Niederönz. Further information on Simon Berger
